Abstract:
Adhesive curing is a critical process step in many industries including semiconductors, health care devices, mobile phones, and consumer electronics. This practical presentation will expand on the use of a fiber delivered radiant heat source for the inline spot curing of heat-curing adhesives. The expansion of the use of spot curing beyond UV curing combines the advantages of thermal curing with the practicality of inline fixturing of devices. The result is an in-line curing system delivering high-quality bonds, speeding production process and integrating easily into existing manufacturing lines. IRphotonics' iCure thermal spot curing system recently won the international Prism Award for Photonic Innovation at Photonics West 2010.
We will discuss:
- Adhesive bonding
- Limits of existing technologies for curing of glues
- Inline curing of adhesives
- Defining the ideal spot curing system
- Introduction to Infrared spot curing and live demo
Intended audience: Process engineers, manufacturing engineers, design engineers, production engineers, and other managers involved with assembly and manufacturing operations in many industries including semiconductors, health care devices, mobile phones, and consumer electronics
