Machine Guarding: 6 Steps to a Safe Workplace
Kartik Vashi, Product and Application Specialist, Schmersal

Dennis Bailey,Canadian Sales Manager, Schmersal
Thursday, June 23 | 1:05 P.M. – 1:25 P.M.
Location: Booth #447

Abstract:

We will discuss the steps to make your workplace a safeplace. We will go into detail on a safety audit or risk assessment of the machine. What is a pre start review and why do we need it. Once we have completed the first two steps we must look at a solution to make this a safe machine. When the engineering and installation is complete the Pre start engineer must sign off on the machine this certifies that the machine complies with Section 7 of the OHSA. Then the training of the employees or operators must be completed and documented.

Packaging molders face many challenges -- regulatory, environmental, costing - beyond those directly from their customers. These challenges will be addressed through discussion on novel molding machinery solutions including: how high performance all electric machines can help to reduce operating cost, carbon footprint and resources yet require a lower initial investment than a conventional hydraulic packaging machine. Examples of high performance molding cells currently running in the packaging field will be provided.
