Regional Quality Expo Moves to Texas in 2012

After producing events in the Southeast U.S. for nearly 10 years, UBM Canon has changed the approach to better serve the market–our exhibitors and attendees throughout the region. We began in the metro Atlanta market through acquiring SouthPack, and produced it there in 2003, 2005, and 2007. Along the way, we added design, plastics, processing, and automation events, culminating in a sizable Atlanta (Georgia World Congress Center) event in 2007. Beginning in 2008, we moved the event to Charlotte. 2010 was our third consecutive show in Charlotte and the first time the Quality Expo show joins the event after moving from Detroit in 2008.

Given the size of the market in the South, both geographically and from a business perspective, our customers (attendees and exhibitors) will be best served by an event that moves throughout the region delivering a new audience from a new region each year. On this basis, UBM Canon invites you to move with us in 2012 when the Quality Expo show moves to Fort Worth, Texas and will be held March 14-15, 2012 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The 2012 co-located event line-up will consist of Quality Expo Texas, MD&M (Medical Design & Manufacturing) Southern Regional Series Texas, ATX (Automation Technology Expo) Texas, Design & Manufacturing Texas, TexasPack, Contract Manufacturing Expo and AeroTec, a new conference and exhibition for aerospace/aviation, defense, and related industries.

According to the 2008 Annual Survey of Manufacturers released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Texas is ranked number one nationally in both the value of annual shipments and materials purchased used in production. It holds the number two ranking (after California) in the number of manufacturing employees, annual payroll, and outlays for capital equipment.

Texas manufacturers employ more than 850,000 people with an annual payroll of $42.78 billion. They spend more than $450 billion on materials used in production and make annual investments in capital equipment of $17.61 billion in operations that yield sales volume of $643.89 billion.

The spectrum of manufacturing industries relevant to Quality Expo is well represented in Texas. Transportation products, including vehicle assembly, automotive parts, and aviation/aerospace manufacturing represent a $39.92 billion industry, which is the third largest in the US. Texas' 4,384 fabricated metal product manufacturing establishments–the largest number for any category–produce a broad spectrum of goods valued at $32.64 billion. Machinery building, a $35.36 billion industry, is the fifth largest manufacturing sector in Texas. The $18.56 billion aviation and aerospace manufacturing market is considered to be a high-growth category that continues to be cultivated by state and regional economic development groups. Medical product manufacturing is a $5 billion industry and includes medical devices, electromedical, and electrotherapeutic equipment and systems.
