Remaining competitive in today’s medical device space is an ongoing challenge for OEMs, suppliers, and contract service providers. Substantial benefits, including reduced costs, optimized assembly time, and mitigation of manufacturing risks, can be realized by leveraging proven DFx principles. This talk provides an overview of design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and design for serviceability. The goal of this presentation is to share strategies and tools to improve cost and efficiency in product design.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
José Wong, Director of Product Engineering
José directs product engineering at Farm. He brings nearly twenty years of design, engineering, and management experience in medical product development. José's recent clients include Covidien, Hologic, and Cardiorobotics. Prior to joining Farm, José worked for GE Healthcare, Critikon, and Johnson & Johnson. José provides technical leadership in the development of global products, such as IV catheters, patient monitors, maternal/fetal monitors, pulse oximeters, and numerous sensors and transducers. He has experience in design controls, FDA/CE submissions, and is also a Six Sigma green belt (DFSS and DMAIC). José holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Miami.
