ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Nitin Salunke is seasoned medical device executive with over fifteen years of experience. He currently holds a position of Director, Research & Development Engineering with Cordis Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson company which does business in the area of interventional medical devices. His responsibilites include providing technical and organization leadership in the development of medical devices from concept innovation to product launch. Prior to joining Cordis Corporation, Dr. Salunke held various positions of increasing responsibilites at W.L. Gore and Associates, Inc. in the area of product development, product management, and engineering operation. He played a critical role in successful commercialization of the EXCLUDER AAA Endoprosthesis which received the Frost & Sullivan Product Leadership award in 2004. Before that, he led the technical development of Gore's HELEX Septal Occulder, which also won him the Medical Design Excellence Award in 2001.
Dr. Salunke received his BS in Mechanical engineering at the University of Poona, MS at the University of Oklahoma and his doctorate at the University of Maryland in Mechanical Engineering with Cardiovascular Biomechanics as his research focus. He also received MBA from San Jose State University with special emphasis on International Business. He has a strong interest in emerging markets.
