Expoplast–Québec's Dedicated Plastics Resource Event

November 14-15, 2012 • Palais des Congrès Convention Centre • Montréal, Québec

Expoplast is the dedicated resource to custom and captive molders in the region, featuring the top suppliers of processing machinery, auxiliary equipment, molds, molding components, materials, and services providers. In 2008, there were approximately 649 plastics processing establishments in Québec producing more than 26 percent of all plastic products made in Canada. Québec plastics processors employ 21,336 and generate an annual payroll of $926 million. The sector spent $2.60 billion on materials and supplies used in production. According to the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA), Québec processors posted 2009 sales of $7.7 billion.

Expoplast will be joined by PACKEX Montréal, Process Technology/Powder Bulk Solids (PTX/PBS) Montréal, Design & Manufacturing Montréal, Contract Manufacturing Expo, Automation Technology Expo (ATX) Montréal, AeroCon, and Sustainability in Manufacturing.

Montréal is the largest city in the province of Québec and the second largest city in all of Canada. The province of Québec is a major center of manufacturing, with a gross domestic product of $301 billion. Seventy-two percent of international exports shipped to the U.S. Québec offers a strategic location between Europe and the Americas and is within a 600 mile radius of Boston, New York, Washington, and Detroit.

PackEx
Food processing is Québec's largest manufacturing sector with 2,000 manufacturing establishments employing nearly 63,000. The sector generated sales of $22.5 billion in 2009, and in recent years, the industry has seen major investments–in the hundreds of millions of dollars–in both new and expanded manufacturing facilities. The chemical industry is Québec's fourth largest manufacturing sector with 825 production facilities, 20,000-plus employees, and an annual payroll of $1.3 billion. Spending on materials and supplies is $5.4 billion with annual sales of $11.7 billion. A subsector of chemicals, pharmaceutical manufacturing in the region generated $4 billion in sales in 2008, while spending $946 million on manufacturing materials and supplies. PACKEX, Canada's national packaging event, comes to Montreal to serve packaging and manufacturing engineers and managers, production/operations staff, and corporate management from industries including food/beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetics/personal care, electronics, household/consumer products, and industrial products, among others.
PTX Montreal
PTX/PBS Montréal is a resource for process engineers from industries including food, chemical, plastics, fabricated metals, medical, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, cosmetics, cement/lime/asphalt, mining, stone/clay/glass, building products, and petroleum, among others.
Design & Manufacturing Montreal        Contract & Manufacturing Montreal
In Québec, manufacturing is a key driver of the economy and employs one in every six workers. The manufacturing industry accounts for 19 percent of economic activity in the province. Québec manufacturers' share of total Canadian production is a minimum of 20 percent, up to as high as 60 percent. Design & Manufacturing Montréal features leading suppliers of CAD/CAM systems and software, enterprise software, rapid prototyping, design services, custom molding, machining and components, and fastening and joining systems. Alongside Design & Manufacturing Montréal, the Contract Manufacturing Expo features leading providers of contract R&D services, custom molding, custom CNC metals processing, specialty electronic contract manufacturing, and full service, turnkey contract manufacturing.
ATX Montreal
Québec manufacturers spent $2.8 billion in 2009 on capital machinery and equipment purchases with the bulk of this money going for advances in automated equipment and systems for improved product quality, enhanced productivity, and lower operation costs. The gateway to the region's advanced manufacturing marketplace, ATX Montréal features leading suppliers of custom automation/assembly systems, robotics, vision inspection systems, control software and hardware, sensors, motion control, drives, motors, and more–products and services used to enhance manufacturing productivity and quality helping manufacturers compete in today's global marketplace.
AeroCon
AeroCon is the dedicated conference and exhibition series for aerospace, aviation, defense, and related industries. Sixty-two percent of overall Canadian aerospace industry production takes place in Québec with 234 aerospace companies that employ more than 40,000 workers and shipped products and equipment in 2009 valued at $12.4 billion. The quality and concentration of aerospace companies in Québec place the province on par with other world-class centers of aerospace manufacturing. The province ranks fifth in the world in aerospace employment and sixth in sales. Leading companies in the area include Bombardier Aerospace, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Bell Helicopter Textron, L3 Communications, and Lockheed Martin, to name a few.
Sustainability in Manufacturing
Sustainability in Manufacturing is a show feature highlighting suppliers that offer sustainable and energy efficient products and services, with a special notation in the show directory and additional flyer along with identifying counter cards. Attendees can also located suppliers via products and services categories in
