ACUSON P10 Honored with MDEA Gold Award
Siemens Healthcare was honored earlier this month with a gold-level Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA) for the ACUSON P10™ ultrasound system during a special ceremony at the Medical Device & Design East Exposition and Conference in New York City. The system, which is the world’s first pocket ultrasound, won in the category of “Radiological and Electromechanical Devices.”
The ACUSON P10 ultrasound system is a little larger than a common PDA, weighs only 1.6 pounds, and fits easily into a physician’s lab coat pocket. It delivers valuable visual information at the first patient contact and is intended for complementary initial diagnostic care and triage, particularly in emergency care, cardiology and obstetrics.
Judging of the entries was conducted by an impartial panel of jurors who carefully review each product submission. Criteria for judging included user-related design and engineering features which provide enhanced benefits to the patient as well as improve the overall delivery of healthcare.
The MDEA competition is the premier awards program for the medical technology community, recognizing the achievements of medical product manufacturers and the people behind the scenes who are responsible for the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of healthcare.
